Big Basket connects you with market stalls and local riders in Georgetown. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code and to text you about your orders. If you join the app waitlist on this site, we keep your number to tell you when the app launches.
- Your name and delivery places (Home, Work or Other), so stalls and riders know who the order is for and where to bring it.
- Your orders: what you bought, from which stall, the price, swaps you approved and any refunds.
- For riders: location while you are online, so we can offer nearby runs and show customers where their order is. We keep location history for 30 days.
- For vendors and riders: the ID and licence documents you upload when you apply. Only the staff who review applications can see them.
How we use it
- To take, pack and deliver your orders, and to keep you updated at each step by text, WhatsApp, email or app notification.
- To handle swaps, refunds and support questions.
- To keep accounts safe, for example by limiting sign-in attempts.
- To send offers, only if you agree to them. You can turn offers off at any time in your notification settings.
Who sees it
The stall packing your order sees your name and what you ordered. The rider delivering it sees your name, phone number and delivery place for that order. We use service providers to send texts, WhatsApp messages, emails and app notifications. We do not sell your information.
How long we keep it
Message contents are cleared after 90 days; we keep a record that a message was sent. Rider location history is kept for 30 days. Order records are kept as long as the law requires.
Your choices
- See and change your details and delivery places in your account.
- Choose which messages you get, and on which channel, in your notification settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete your account. We remove your details, except what the law requires us to keep.
The law
We handle personal data under Guyana's Data Protection Act 2023. Questions about your data? See Contact.
